This tincture is made with our UK strain Lion’s Mane, cloned from an extremely rare specimen we miraculously found a stone’s throw from our farm. Lion’s Mane is a saprophytic mushroom with a long history of use in traditional healing protocols, as well as being of great importance to the Yamabushi Buddhist monks of Japan for defence and as a tool for clarity during meditation. The benefits of this widely revered functional mushroom have been utilised and continually studied for centuries. Called ‘Yamabushitake’ in Japan, meaning “those who sleep in the mountains”. Named after Yamabushi Buddhist Monks, who were thought to use Lion’s Mane in meditation. Native UK Lion’s Mane Our Lion’s Mane was cloned from a species we found growing just 300m from our farm near Bristol. As much as possible we utilise native strains, not only to help us get closer once again to the medicine of this land – where so much of the knowledge has been lost – but most importantly to have as little effect as possible on local biodiversity and ultimately tread as lightly as possible on the earth. By prioritising native strains we are avoiding the spread of billions of spores that come from commercial mushroom strains that have been selected specifically for their ability to grow fast and fruit heavily, and will therefore easily outcompete a lot of the native strains we have growing around the farm. Grown in Somerset, UK Our Lions Mane is grown on our organic mushroom farm, where we crop almost half a ton per month. We also prepare the tinctures and pack the orders in-house – meaning origin can be traced back to one location in the clean green pastures of Somerset with absolutely no tampering by third parties.
